A Guide to Floor Scrubber Machine Features
In the floor scrubber market today there are a great number
of manufacturers making scrubbers and each brand has its own set of unique
selling points and feature set. The bigger brand names such as Karcher, Numatic
and CleanFix have a range of different machines specifically designed for
differing floor cleaning requirements.
Floor Scrubber Features:
Fold-away Floor Scrubbing Units
A number of smaller scrubber machine models have been
designed to be folded away when not in use in storage cupboards and the boot of
a car.
Battery Powered Scrubbers
As well as being convenient without wires which can easily
get tangled, battery powered floor scrubbers are able to be used in water
without any risk of electrocution.
Cylindrical & Twin Disc Scrubbing Brushes
Some scrubber dryers have cylindrical brushes which enable
them to operate right up to the edge of walls and skirting boards. Scrubbers
with this wide brush tend to be the smaller machines which have been developed
to fit into small inaccessible areas that larger machines are unable to operate
in. Whilst others have twin disc brushes which thoroughly scrub floors both
forward and backward.
Forward & Reverse Scrubbing Action
In order to maximize the cleaning performance of floor
scrubber machines some are fitted with squeegee dispensers both in-front and
behind the scrubbing brush. This enables the operator to save time and money by
being able scrub a floor space in less time by using the machine in both
directions.
Multi-surface Scrubbers
Some floor scrubbing machines can even be set to work on not
just hard floors but a range of other floor surfaces besides such as soft floor
coverings, woven short pile carpets, carpet tiles, travellers, escalators as
well as entrance matting surfaces.
Pump Multi-wash Scrubbing Machines
Pump multi-wash machines use a pump and a much larger
cleaning fluid tank capacity which minimises the number of times the machine
has to be refilled. In addition the pump enables the floor scrubber to be able
to scrub, clean and dry floor surfaces in one pass leaving them ready to walk
on in minutes.
Ride-on Floor Scrubber Dryers
Some larger floor scrubbing machines have been designed to
carry the operator and are classed as 'ride-on' and typically the operator is
provided a comfortable but simple seat along with easy to use operational
controls and steering. You would be forgiven for thinking that scrubber dryers
lacked traction on wet surfaces but as 'ride-ons' have the added weight of the
driver as well as the machine they are surprisingly good on wet conditions.
Usually ride-on floor scrubber machines are rear wheel steering to provide
extra stability as the operator is usually positioned at the front.
